
AUA to resume flights to Arbil in Iraq
March 17, 2008 - Austrian Airlines Group (AUA) spokeswoman Livia Dandrea has announced that AUA will resume flights to Arbil in the Kurdish part of Iraq on April 2 on a thrice-weekly basis (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) at first.The number will be increased to four weekly (including Sunday) in June. AUA will begin using an Airbus 320 on the route in September.
AUA suspended flights to Iraq's Kurdish province last September on security grounds after starting them in December, 2006 but claims that it is no longer concerned about security there.
Iraqi airline Mesopotamia Air has been providing service between Suleimaniya in northern Iraq and Vienna since early February.
